Lyfta worked in partnership with the Youth Sport Trust to create a scheme of work for PE teachers and sports leads which used our storyworlds to teach students how to live healthily. In this blog, we review the impact of this project on students and teachers.

We have been working in partnership with children's charity, the Youth Sport Trust (YST) to create a scheme of work for PE teachers and sports leads which uses our storyworlds to teach students how to live healthily. We also created an accompanying training course for PE teachers and sports leads and worked with the YST to deliver this programme.
The Lyfta-YST programme took place Autumn 2021 - Spring 2022 and key research findings showed that the programme was both effective at supporting student engagement with physical activity and that it helped them better understand the relationship between PE and health and wellbeing. Impact findings showed that educators perceived the training and professional development to have enriched and broadened their pedagogical toolbox for engaging young people with the importance of physical activity and relating it to RSE and health education.

"Lyfta has made me stop and think about how much time we spend with some of the softer skills like resilience and respect as the main focus of the lesson. It's made me more conscious of using different experiences within PE, beyond the more traditional activities."
