A beekeeper's day
In this lesson we will explore Malte's work, motivations and values. We will also begin to consider our own values.
Teacher notes
This lesson requires some pre-teaching of values: what they are and how they are enacted in school settings. You may want to link back to your own school's values. The lesson is suitable for KS2 but could easily be adapted for KS1 by focussing on what learners see and hear, removing the focus on Malte's values and thinking about what the job of a beekeeper involves. Some suggested prompts are included in the final task. **Lyfta core themes:** Community and Citizenship, Health and Wellbeing, Learning and Growth, Natural Environment, Professions and Entrepreneurship. **Lyfta core skills and values**: Active Citizenship and Political Awareness, Entrepreneurship, Environment and Sustainability, Healthy Living, Self-Motivation, Taking Initiative, Work Ethic. **SDGs:** 3, 11, 12, 13, 15. **National Curriculum objectives:** KS1/2 PSHE H2/ H3. to learn about the elements/choices of a balanced and healthy lifestyle H7. to understand how regular exercise benefits mental and physical health H16. to learn about strategies and behaviours that support mental health — including physical exercise/time outdoors L5. to think about ways of carrying out shared responsibilities for protecting the environment L19. to recognise that people’s spending decisions can affect others and the environment L26. to consider the broad range of different jobs/careers that people can have and that people often have more than one career during their life L28. to think about what might influence people’s decisions about a job or career.
