Curriculum Diversity, DEIB & Representation

Schools need practical and engaging ways to help pupils encounter a wider range of people, places, identities, cultures, careers and perspectives. We support curriculum diversity, DEIB (EDI), broadening horizons and representation through immersive human stories, ready-to-teach lessons, discussion and reflection.

Schools have always cared about making sure every pupil feels respected, understood and included. Ofsted's new inspection framework, introduced in November 2025, placed inclusion at the centre of school evaluation for the first time, alongside existing duties under the Equality Act 2010 to protect pupils and staff with protected characteristics from discrimination. In an increasingly globalised world, it is more important than ever for schools to prepare pupils for the diversity they will encounter in school, work and daily life (including that online).

DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, in the UK often referred to as EDI, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, reflecting the language of the Equality Act 2010) can be supported throughout school life, including through curriculum diversity, PSHE and RSE, citizenship, RE, SMSC, personal development and cultural capital. Schools can create a more diverse and inclusive curriculum by ensuring meaningful multicultural representation, introducing pupils to a wider range of people, places, identities, communities, careers and perspectives, and helping them challenge stereotypes, assumptions and biases.

Lyfta strongly supports this work through immersive human stories, documentary films, Storyworlds and ready-to-teach lessons that help pupils build empathy, broaden horizons, strengthen aspiration and develop a deeper sense of belonging.
