This assembly for KS2/3 and above introduces Ambassador Kwon, who was the Korean Ambassador to China. Kwon now plants trees in the desert to address the problem of desertification and climate change. It asks students to think about climate activists they know - and find out about others. **Lyfta core themes:** Natural Environment, Community and Citizenship, Professions and Entrepreneurship.** **Lyfta core skills and values**: Active Citizenship & Political Awareness, Creativity & Innovation, Environment & Sustainability, Intercultural Competence, Positive Attitude, Resilience & Perseverance, Responsibility & Accountability, Self-Discipline & Self-Regulation, Taking Initiative. **SDGs:** 12,13,15,17. **National Curriculum objectives:** KS2 Geography: - Describe and understand key aspects of physical geography, including: climate zones, biomes and vegetation belts, and the water cycle. KS3 Geography - Physical geography relating to: weathering and soils; weather and climate and hydrology - How human and physical processes interact to influence and change landscapes, environments and the climate - understand the processes that give rise to key physical and human geographical features of the world, and how these are interdependent - extend locational knowledge to focus on Asia (including China), focusing on their environmental regions, including polar and hot deserts, key physical and human characteristics, countries and major cities. KS2 Citizenship - to recognise the role of voluntary, community and pressure groups - that resources can be allocated in different ways and that these economic choices affect individuals, communities and the sustainability of the environment. KS3 Citizenship - Pupils should be taught about the roles played by public institutions and voluntary groups in society, and the ways in which citizens work together to improve their communities, including opportunities to participate in school-based activities.
