**Note: There is a short section in the film (05.44 - 06.33) where the teen girls have an adult-led activity discussing periods and menstrual products. Please review and decide if it is appropiate for your pupil age group. Teachers of younger students could move through this section if they prefer.** This lesson introduces 15-year-old Megen who is part of a girls' surf group in Nicaragua, where surfing has been traditionally a boys' pursuit. It explores how she and other girls stay safe in the water and in the sun and how your pupils can look after their skin, too. This lesson is available for primary and secondary students using differentiated rich media resources, which students select according to their age and/or reading abilities. We've named them 'primary' and 'secondary' but feel free to use whichever suits your learners. **National Curriculum objectives:** KS2 PSHE H12. about the benefits of sun exposure and risks of overexposure; how to keep safe from sun damage and sun/heat stroke and reduce the risk of skin cancer.
