Describing a volcanic eruption

In this lesson, students will explore a storyworld based in La Palma where they’ll meet volcanologists and witness the eruption of an active volcano. Having explored the storyworld and the documentary film, students will be asked to write a description of a volcanic eruption. **This lesson is suitable for a range of secondary students but could easily be adapted for KS2, changing the success criteria in the final activities.** Please note that this lesson will focus on the planning and production of the description. If you would like students to explore descriptive writing techniques in more depth, you may want to use the lesson ‘Descriptive Writing’ first.
