Have respect: Part 2

This the 2nd of the two 'Have respect' lessons. In this lesson we briefly revisit the library in Awra Amba and read the Manifesto on faith and peace. In the main activity, the children write a persuasive letter to their headteacher about an issue that concerns them. This lesson is most suitable for KS2 and above. **Lyfta core themes:** Community and Citizenship, Learning and Growth **Lyfta core skills and values:** Communication, Critical Thinking, Environment & sustainability, Empathy and understanding others, Healthy living, Human rights, Perspective taking, Respect. **SDG:** 4, 16. **National Curriculum objectives:** KS2 English Speaking and Listening to consider and evaluate different viewpoints, attending to and building on the contributions of others. Writing (persuasive letter) draft and write by: selecting appropriate grammar and vocabulary, understanding how such choices can change and enhance meaning, using a wide range of devices to build cohesion within and across paragraphs. KS2 Citizenship 4a. to recognise that their actions affect themselves and others, to care about other people's feelings and to try to see things from their points of view b. to think about the lives of people living in other places and times, and people with different values and customs. KS2 PSHE R34. to understand how to discuss and debate topical issues, respect other people’s point of view and constructively challenge those they disagree with.
