Lesson plan

Honey biscuits

In this lesson, we will learn how to use honey in cooking, and bake some honey biscuits.

Teacher notes

This lesson assumes that pupils have already explored Malte’s storyworld and learnt about honey production, for example by exploring the rich media article 'How to produce honey like Malte'. However, it could also be a stand alone lesson. In this lesson we revisit the 'How to produce honey like Malte' article briefly, take a look inside a beehive, and learn how to make honey biscuits. Please ensure you check all pupil’s food allergies and carry out your own risk assessment according to your setting. For children with allergies you could try substituting honey for agave nectar or maple syrup. Please check with parents for these alternatives. **Lyfta core themes:** Professions and Entrepreneurship, Technology and Engineering. **Lyfta core skills and values**: Environment and Sustainability, Entrepreneurship, Healthy Living, Practical Life Skills. **SDG:** 12. **National Curriculum objectives:** KS1 D.T. :(Cooking and Nutrition) use the basic principles of a healthy and varied diet to prepare dishes understand where food comes from.
