Intro to Lyfta: Accessible

The aim of this first lesson is to introduce you and the learners to Lyfta storyworlds. **This lesson is suitable for younger learners (KS1) or those with lower literacy levels.** You will discover the first of our learning environments, or storyworlds. Each storyworld contains one short documentary film, a variety of 360-degree content and rich media articles. This content will allow the children to travel the globe virtually and meet people in different parts of the world to explore their homes, work and lives. In this first lesson, you will meet Rob from Cornwall, who is a beachcomber with a difference. We recommend Google Chrome as a browser for the optimal experience of Lyfta. Please ensure you have the sound on to be beautifully immersed in the amazing soundscapes, as well as the rich visual materials. We hope your learners enjoy their first visit to Lyfta's fascinating storyworlds! **Lyfta core themes:** Community and Citizenship, Natural Environment. **SDGs:** 11, 12, 14. **National Curriculum objectives:** KS1 PSHE L3. to learn about things they can do to help look after their environment KS1 Citizenship 2g. what improves and harms their local, natural and built environments and about some of the ways people look after them; 5g. consider social and moral dilemmas that they come across in everyday life (for example simple environmental issues) KS1 Geography use basic geographical vocabulary to refer to: key physical features, including: beach, cliff, coast, hill, sea, ocean, vegetation, season and weather KS1-2 English (Spoken Language) to maintain attention and participate actively in collaborative conversations, staying on topic and initiating and responding to comments KS2 PSHE to learn ways of carrying out shared responsibilities for protecting the environment in school and at home to understand how everyday choices can affect the environment (e.g. reducing, reusing, recycling; food choices). KS2 Citizenship 5a. take responsibility (for example, for planning and looking after the school environment) KS2 Geography to name and locate counties and cities of the United Kingdom, geographical regions and their identifying human and physical characteristics, key topographical features (including hills, mountains, coasts and rivers).
