Jasmin the fearless (KS2)

Meet 12-year-old Jasmin, who has lived in Finland all her life, and is moving to Somaliland with her family.

Teacher notes

This lesson is suitable for KS2 or KS3 and is a powerful way to look the experience of navigating between two cultures, as Jasmin is in the position of moving to a homeland her parents identify with, but that is new to her and her siblings. The films includes scenes where Jasmin is both excited, nervous, apprehensive and at one point angry that she has moved home. Yet as she grows more comfortable there, she identifies that she can overcome her fears and worries, and sends a powerful message that we all can, too.
