This lesson is adaptable for KS2 and with some amendments, KS1. You could provide a tray of sand to allow children to feel the grains, or even borrow some animal toys from younger year groups, if available! This lesson introduces Ambassador Kwon, planting trees in the deserts of northwest China to address problems caused by desertification. **Lyfta core themes:** Natural Environment, Professions and Entrepreneurship.** **Lyfta core skills and values**: Active Citizenship & Political Awareness, Coaching & Mentoring, Collaboration & Teamwork, Coping Methods, Creativity & Innovation, Critical Thinking, Environment & Sustainability, Leadership, Organisation and Planning, Resilience & Perseverance, Responsibility & Accountability, Work Ethic. **SDGs:** 7,9,13,15. **National Curriculum objectives:** KS1/2 Science - identify that most living things live in habitats to which they are suited - describe how different habitats provide for the basic needs of different kinds of animals and plants, and how they depend on each other - identify and name a variety of plants and animals in their habitats, including microhabitats - identify how animals and plants are adapted to suit their environment in different ways, and that adaptation may lead to evolution. KS2 Geography: - Describe and understand key aspects of physical geography, including: climate zones, biomes and vegetation belts, and the water cycle. KS2 English - Develop reading comprehension.
