Lyfta Time #22: Najibullah in Afghanistan

This lesson introduces Najibullah in Afghanistan, a baker who bakes traditional Afghan bread for his community. You could use it to explore themes such as: bread and its importance, working children and young people, and jobs people do. This mini-lesson can be delivered either from the front of the classroom using a central computer and screen, or for students who have access to their own computers or devices. **Please note: at one point, Najibullah tells a story about a goat falling in to the bread oven (5.19- 5.30) Feel free to skip this section if you feel it will upset children.** This obviously raises health and safety issues older students might be able to discuss alongside the issue of working children. There is a rich media article 'Working children' that supports learning on this issue. Like ALL Lyfta storyworlds, these characters are unique.
