Meet Andrea
In this lesson we meet Andrea from the Jujuy region of Argentina, who works as a waste picker on a landfill site. We'll introduce the issue of landfill, and ask who creates least waste: UK, Finland or Argentina?

This is an ideal introductory lesson for the storyworld **Andrea's Yard**. Note: Jujuy is pronounced 'Huhui'. This storyworld shares similarities with Rob and the beach in Cornwall. Unlike Rob, Andrea works in rather more dangerous working conditions. **Lyfta core themes:** Community and Citizenship, Culture and Identity, Equality and Human Rights, Health and Wellbeing, Professions and Entrepreneurship, Technology and Engineering. **Lyfta core skills and values**: Entrepreneurship, Environment and Sustainability, Healthy Living, Human Rights, Intercultural Competence, Resilience and Perseverance, Work Ethic. **SDGs:** 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15. **National Curriculum objectives:** KS2 Geography to locate the world’s countries, using maps (South America) to understand geographical similarities and differences through the study of human and physical geography of a region within South America to recognise aspects of human geography, e.g types of settlement and land use, economic activity and the distribution of natural resources including energy, food, minerals and water to use (virtual and digital) fieldwork to observe human and physical features. KS2 Maths to interpret data, including bar charts. KS2 Science to explore examples of human impact (both positive and negative) on environments. KS2 Citizenship to think about the lives of people living in other places and times, and people with different values and customs.
