**Important note: There is a short section in the film (05.44 - 06.33) where the teen girls have an adult-led activity discussing periods and menstrual products. Please watch before deciding if this is appropiate for your student age group. Teachers of younger students could move through this section if they prefer.** This lesson introduces 15-year-old Megen who is part of a girls' surf group in Nicaragua called the 'mermaids of Popoyo'. It is suitable for KS2 or KS3 students. **National Curriculum objectives:** KS2 or KS3 English (reading comprehension) - Read texts structured in different ways and for a range of purposes; - Understand what they read, by: identifying main ideas and summarising these, retrieve and record information from non-fiction.
