Teach the 1st part of the lesson (lesson 3 in this unit) first. In this 3rd lesson of the Perseverance & Growth unit, pupils explore what it means to build their own opportunities rather than wait for them to appear. Through the story of Izandra in Brazil, a young violinist who transformed her life through music, pupils reflect on how courage, creativity, and determination can open doors for ourselves and others. By exploring Izandra’s storyworld, pupils recognise that growth begins with small steps, and that practice and self-belief are essential parts of perseverance. **Learning objectives**: Understand that growth and perseverance also involve helping others to grow. Explore how Izandra’s story shows the value of empathy, generosity, and teamwork. Reflect on how sharing skills and kindness strengthens communities.
