Teacher notes
This is the third Lyfta Time session we recommend as you get started with Lyfta. This mini-lesson can be delivered either from the front of the classroom using a central computer and screen, or for students who have access to their own computers or devices. This lesson introduces Enaney, a tour guide in Awra Amba - a small village in Northern Ethiopia who, despite being affected by famine, rejected food aid and built their own businesses. **PSHE KS3 Links: Health and Wellbeing (H) and Living in the Wider World (L)** H1: how we are all unique, that recognising and demonstrating personal strengths build self-confidence, self-esteem and good health and wellbeing H9: strategies to understand and build resilience, as well as how to respond to disappointments and set backs L3: to set realistic yet ambitious targets and goals L5: the skills and qualities required to engage in enterprise L9: the benefits of setting ambitious goals and being open to opportunities in all aspects of life L10: to recognise and challenge stereotypes and family or cultural expectations that may limit aspirations. You could use it to explore themes such as: self-sufficiency, resilience, problem solving and entrepreneurship. Like ALL Lyfta storyworlds, these characters are unique. We don't share stories as being 'typical' or as 'single stories' of people or places. **Please note:** If this is your first Lyfta lesson, please see these specially designed introductory lesson plans first, which introduce the Quest Tracker and how Lyfta works: Option 1: 'Lyfta Time KS3 KS4 PSHE #01: Rob in Cornwall' is a 20 minute introduction exploring one storyworld; Option 2: ‘How to use Lyfta’ is a 45 minute lesson exploring multiple storyworlds.
