This lesson introduces Cansu, a 13-year-old girl growing up in Molenbeek, a suburb of Brussels in Belgium. Cansu is of Turkish heritage. This lesson explores hopes and dreams and the hard work necessary to get there, in the storyworld The Hip-Hop Star. **If possible please show Part 2 of the film to your class so they can see Cansu achieve her dream of making a rap video.** PSHE Links: Living in a Wider World (especially L2, L3, L5, L6, L9, L10, L14, L23) Health and Wellbeing (especially H1, H2, H4, H8, H9, H10, H13) Relationships (especially R3, R10, R14, R38, R39, R41) **Please note: Bullying/ transition: Cansu and her friends discuss how they are worried they might get bullied. Cansu also says a few negative things about herself, including the fact she attends a special school - these may need additional discussion with your class and some sensitivity. It's also an opportunity to remind learners of what to do if they witness or are a victim of bullying. Please also note that the film briefly refers to a past terror attack in Molenbeek, Cansu’s neighbourhood.** This mini-lesson can be delivered either from the front of the classroom using a central computer and screen, or for students who have access to their own computers or devices.
