Meet YouTuber Gika and examine influencer culture.

This lesson develops critical digital and media literacy and builds on wider Lyfta content examining the theme. It is suitable for a broad audience (KS3 and above). **Note: In the film, Gika shows us how his interest in astrology and tarot cards helped him with personal issues of identity.** **National Curriculum objectives:** KS3 PSHE - Understanding how social media and influencers affect body image, self-esteem, and mental health. - Recognising unhealthy or risky online trends, diets, or lifestyle advice. - Identifying peer pressure, both online and offline. - Understanding the role of friends and social groups in influencing choices. - Developing digital literacy and media awareness. - Recognising advertising, sponsored content, and commercial motives in online content. - Evaluating online content critically and understanding commercial influence. KS4 PSHE - Analysing the impact of online influencers on health, lifestyle, and wellbeing. - Identifying risks and misinformation in social media use. - Evaluating the credibility of online content. - Understanding consumer influence and marketing strategies in digital media. - Making informed lifestyle and financial decisions based on critical evaluation of media. KS5 PSHE - Advanced media literacy: evaluating bias, agenda, and reliability of influencers. - Developing critical thinking and self-regulation in peer and influencer pressure contexts. - Understanding marketing strategies, persuasive techniques, and ethics in digital media.
