This lesson explores the meaning of home and welcoming new pupils, and is suitable for KS2 and above. The lesson does not include the Lyfta film this time, but pupils will be able to access both films if they click on the links in the storyworld. Please be aware that we've included a 🚦for Part 1 of the film, as in it, Adhanom discusses a difficult journey to safety which younger learners might find upsetting - so it's important that teachers watch this before teaching to check suitability. **Lyfta core themes:** Community and Citizenship, Culture and Identity, Equality and Human Rights, Health and Wellbeing, Learning and Growth, Relationships. **Lyfta core skills and values**: Communication, Coping Methods, Empathy & Understanding Others, Healthy Living, Human Rights, Information Retrieval, Intercultural Competence. **SDGs:** 1,3,4,10,11. **National Curriculum objectives:** KS2 Citizenship - to talk and write about their opinions, and explain their views, on issues that affect themselves and society to discuss and debate topical issues, problems and events - to reflect on spiritual, moral, social, and cultural issues, using imagination to understand other people's experiences - that their actions affect themselves and others, to care about other people's feelings and to try to see things from their points of view - to think about the lives of people living in other places and times; people with different values and customs - that differences and similarities between people arise from a number of factors, including cultural, ethnic, racial and religious diversity, gender and disability.
