This lesson is most suitable for KS3 and above. However, if you have viewed the PG-certificated film, it is a valuable opportunity to discuss the issues of the right to education and forced marriage in upper KS2, meeting many of the below PSGE objectives. **The film in this lesson is a PG Certificate: KS2 teachers should view before proceeding.** **Lyfta core themes:** Learning and Growth, Equality and Human Rights. **Lyfta core skills and values:** Assertiveness, Courage and Self-confidence, Empathy and Understanding others, Human Rights, Lifelong Learning, Resilience and Perseverance, Work Ethic. **SDGs:** 4, 10. **National Curriculum objectives:** KS3 PSHE R6. to learn that marriage is a legal, social and emotional commitment that should be entered into freely, and never forced upon someone through threat or coercion. KS2 PSHE L3. to understand that there are basic human rights shared by all peoples and all societies and that children have their own special rights set out in the United Nations Rights of the Child L4. to learn that these universal rights are there to protect everyone and have primacy both over national law and family and community practices R3. to learn about marriage and civil partnership as a legal declaration of commitment made by two adults who love and care for each other, which is intended to be lifelong R4. to understand that forcing anyone to marry against their will is a crime; that help and support is available to people who are worried about this for themselves or others.
