Visit the Dead Sea

This lesson is a unique way to begin exploring the Dead Sea and to introduce learners to the region; and to the concept of salt water, salt and sea salt! Therefore this would be a great lesson to teach before the science lesson 'Experiments with salt', but is still perfect as s stand-alone lesson. **National Curriculum objectives:** KS2 Geography - understand geographical similarities and differences through the study of human and physical geography (focus on Jordan and surrounding region) - understand human geography, including: types of settlement and land use, economic activity including trade links, and the distribution of natural resources including energy, food, minerals and water. KS3 Geography - locational knowledge of the world’s countries to focus on Asia and the Middle East, including key physical and human characteristics, countries and major cities - understand geographical similarities, differences and links between places through the study of human and physical geography of a region within Asia. KS2 Design Technology (Cooking and Nutrition) - know where and how a variety of ingredients are grown, reared, caught and processed. KS2/3 Literacy - writing and composition - draft and write for different purposes - retrieve, record and present information from non-fiction - develop reading comprehension skills.
