This lesson is suitable for KS3. It explores themes in a cross-curricular context with clear links to RE, English (reading comprehension) and there is one maths activity, an opportunity to develop numeracy across the curriculum. **National Curriculum objectives:** RE KS3 and above We visit a sacred site for Christians Jews and Muslims, explore baptism and touch on pilgrimage, and ask learners to reflect on being in this special place. There are opportunities to explore aspects of the RE curriculum as applies in your setting as locally decided by your SACRE, which is responsible for producing the locally agreed syllabus for RE e.g.: - Describe the variety of practices and ways of life in religious communities - Identify and begin to describe similarities and differences between religions - Explore symbols of religious expression. KS3 Maths - understand and use place value for decimals, measures and integers of any size - consolidate numerical and mathematical capability from KS2 and extend understanding of the number system and place value to include decimals, fractions, powers and roots - select and use appropriate calculation strategies to solve increasingly complex problems.
