You might like to create your own volcano! Using a cone of card or papier mache, cause an eruption with bicarbonate of soda and vinegar - red food colouring can be added for effect! **Note - this could be messy!!** This lesson is adaptable for KS2 and above. **Lyfta core themes:** natural environment, technology and engineering, professions and entrepreneurship. **Lyfta core skills and values**: Collaboration and Teamwork, Coping Methods, Professionalism, Research, Resilience and Perseverance, Work Ethic. **SDGs:** 3, 7, 15 **National Curriculum Objectives:** KS2 Geography: - Understand key aspects of volcanoes. and touches upon KS3 Geography: - Understand, through the use of detailed place-based exemplars at a variety of scales, the key processes in geological timescales, plate tectonics and rocks. KS1/2 Science - Rocks and rock types and touches upon KS3 Science: - The structure of the Earth - The rock cycle and the formation of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. There is also mention of careers in STEM, linked to PSHE, eg: KS2 PSHE L26. that there is a broad range of different jobs/careers that people can have L28. about what might influence people’s decisions about a job or career L30. about some of the skills that will help them in their future careers e.g. teamwork, communication and negotiation L31. to identify the kind of job that they might like to do when they are older.
