This is a stand alone lesson which links to the Rock Cycle lesson plan, but if using both, teach this one first. **For KS3 learners or younger, you might like to create your own volcano! Using a cone of card or papier mache, cause an eruption with bicarbonate of soda and vinegar - red food colouring can be added for effect!** This lesson is adaptable for KS3, KS4 and KS5. **Lyfta Core themes:** natural environment, technology and engineering, professions and entrepreneurship. **Lyfta core skills and values**: Collaboration and Teamwork, Communication, Research, Resilience and Perseverance, Understanding Data, Work Ethic. **SDGs:** 3, 7, 15 **National Curriculum Objectives (England):** KS3 Geography Understand, through the use of detailed place-based exemplars at a variety of scales, the key processes in geological timescales, plate tectonics and rocks. KS4 Geography (board specific) - Tectonic hazards - Earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are the result of physical processes. - The effects of, and responses to, a tectonic hazard vary between areas of contrasting levels of wealth. - Management can reduce the effects of a tectonic hazard.
