**Teach lesson 1 first.** Through Deenpal’s continued journey, students reflect on how cultural traditions, faith, and family can build confidence and a positive sense of self. They consider the importance of recognising and appreciating what they have, and how this can fuel both aspiration and empathy for others. This 2nd lesson in the unit helps pupils explore gratitude not just as “saying thank you” but as a deep feeling of connection to what makes us strong. **Learning objectives**: By the end of this lesson, pupils will: Reflect on how traditions, faith or family can help them feel proud and confident. Understand that gratitude can support aspiration, especially when things get tough. Consider how self-belief and community values shape identity. **Storyworld Summary** We return to Deenpal, a young Sikh boy in Denmark, as he prepares for a traditional Sikh celebration and reflects on his growing confidence. As he expresses pride in his Sikh identity and deepens his understanding of Waheguru (God), we see how faith and cultural belonging help him face his fears and embrace life with courage and purpose.
