Pri Values - Respect & Inclusion 5: Aci (1/2)

This is the 5th lesson in the Year of Values series. In this storyworld, students meet Aci, a disability rights advocate from Indonesia who, after an accident, now works to improve life for others with disabilities. Her story invites students to explore respect not only as kindness, but as standing up for fairness and inclusion. Key themes include disability awareness, belonging, advocacy, and an introduction to protected characteristics, helping students reflect on how we make space for everyone to thrive. This lesson pair also gently introduces the idea of protected characteristics, including disability, and encourages students to think about advocacy, equality, and how we can challenge unfairness in age-appropriate ways. Guidance: This session can be delivered from the front of the class or on student devices (if available). The lesson invites students to reflect, share, and journal on the value of respect, not as a fixed definition, but as a living, evolving part of how they show up for others. In this session, we’re focusing on the values of respect and inclusion, but not by giving a fixed definition. Instead, we’ll reflect, question, and explore how people like us (and unlike us) live out this value in the real world. This is about growing our awareness of ourselves and others and being aware of the relationship between the two. Together, we’ll develop our own understanding through thoughtful reflection and respectful dialogue.
