Sec Values - Courage & Resilience 3: Lukas (2/2)
Today we return to Lukas as he prepares to run his race. His courage is shaped by both training and prayer. But when something goes right, how do we know what caused it? Is it enough to believe?
Teacher notes
This is the 3rd lesson in the "Courage and Resilience" unit and is the **2nd part of Lukas story** - please do the previous lesson ('Lukas (1/2)') first. In this session, we deepen our understanding of Lukas' story by watching the second part of his film, where he prepares for his school race and visits the doctor. We encounter a powerful tension: Lukas believes prayer helped heal his heart, while the doctor credits his training. This session invites students to explore belief, science, determination, and what it means to hold faith in something you can't prove. This short lesson can be delivered either from the front of the classroom using a central computer and screen, or for students who have access to their own computers or devices. **Curriculum links (KS3/KS4):** PSHE (KS3): H1, H3, H5, R1, R38, L1, L2 PSHE (KS4): H2, H3, H5, R1, R42, L3, L8 RE: Personal and philosophical inquiry, relationship between science and belief, understanding faith-based perspectives.
