💜 Compassion and Empathy (Year of Values 2/6 Sec)

About this collection

Compassion and Empathy is the second module in Lyfta’s Year of Values course for secondary students. Through six lessons, learners encounter authentic global stories - from a violin-playing girl visiting a care home, to an activist supporting street animals, to families celebrating cultural traditions. These stories prompt students to think critically about how compassion and empathy operate at both personal and societal levels. The module explores how caring actions influence relationships, communities, and wider society, while also questioning the challenges of living compassionately in a complex world. Students are invited to reflect on their own responses, consider multiple perspectives, and practise empathy through dialogue and relational thinking. This module supports PSHE and Citizenship priorities, while encouraging students to connect values to lived realities and to their own capacity for action.
