What is Cosplay?

Arlo uses something called Cosplay as a way to help with their self-identity. Cosplay is a community where young people usually dress up as characters, mostly from anime, games and TV shows. For Arlo, who says they are not always "comfortable in their own skin", it's a way to express their identity, to socialise and to feel like they belong. Cosplay is also a coping mechanism for Arlo, and allowing them to portray themselves onto fictional characters has helped with finding their identity.

Gender Identity

Arlo, formerly Imogen, identifies as non-binary. Materials explain the difference between ‘gender' and ‘sex' and clickable rich media articles illustrate that gender can be fluid and changeable and we should be kind to ourselves and to those discovering their own identity. Gender isn't just about your body but about how you feel. Articles will demystify gender identity terms such as cisgender, gender fluid, intersex, transgender and non-binary.
