This day was founded by the International Society for Animal Rights in 1992 to raise awareness about the importance of responsible pet ownership and the need to care for animals in need. For teachers, it's a chance to teach compassion and empathy toward animals and we have plenty of teaching resources to support this. Through discussions, activities, and possibly even visits to local shelters, educators can help students understand the significance of adopting pets and treating animals with kindness and respect, fostering a sense of responsibility and care.
